There is lots of equipment used in baseball. Mostly safety equipment, but gloves, bats, and baseballs.
Bats- The types of bats allowed in baseball depend on the league you play in. The higher the league the kind of worse bat you have to use. On the picture to the left are some Easton Torq's. These bats are incredibly helpful with hitting over a wood bat in the majors. Now these aren't the only good ones, rawlings and demarini produce excellent bats too. But any aluminum (metal) will pretty much be better than wooden bats. That's why little, junior, and senior leagues use these most of the time. But once in the minors or majors, it's all wood bats. But there are different types of wood, some heavier and less likely to break (maple bats), and some with a lot of pop but break easier (ash). But be sure of one thing, get the right bat, get a good bat.
Safety- Most of your safety equipment is going to come from your catchers and home plate umps. The protective gear wore by a catcher is a helmet, chest protector, leg pads, and any other optional protective gear you can have. The home plate umpire has a face mask, chest protector, and leg pads for his safety. Then there's the safety of the batter. He must wear a helmet to protect his head. It must fit securely with no cracks. If they want to they can also wear an elbow pad and a shin guard until they get to 1st base. The pitcher can also wear a tight fit chest protector in case of line drives. Those are basic protective equipment. Gloves- There are different types of gloves used in baseball, infield glove, outfield glove, first baseman mitt, catchers mitt, and batters gloves. Infield gloves are shallow and a bit smaller than other gloves so they can be more responsive and faster in reaction to the ball. An outfield glove will be deeper, This makes it easier to catch baseballs. First baseman gloves differ from others because they are wider than other infield gloves and are used to scoop more than catch. A catchers mitt is different simply because it is far more padded than all others and has a deep pocket. |
